I do not know whether what I am experiencing today in insurance matters has anything to do with the massive political contributions of 2008. As a freelance writer I have often posted my desire as I built my company, Freelance Writing to bring underwriting policies under the microscope of the Federal government instead of the states where a buddy system has always been in place. We have by means of state supervision a symbiotic relationship between states overseeing over multi billion dollar insurers and a need not to upset the rent payers, lessees, employers and most of all tax payers that are the insurers. Consumers inherently know not to file complaints against the Arrogance of Power. Lately, within the past few years I have had much inconvenience and frustration over the insurance companies and their frenetic attempt to protect liability and their precious bottom line at the customer's expense. They do not want to lose money and protecting our interests is subordinate to their insistence that no event will cause a loss to them. Small businesses across America do not get to protect themselves in this manner and just go out of business. I live in a coastal community where no one can acquire home insurance from a blue chip concern residing where we do. We are waiting for a category 5 hurricane that does not arrive. It is like Dorothy waiting for the Kansas tornado or even Waiting for Godot. It is the very absurd and preposterous underwriting that causes our residents to be tied to small, and in my case unscrupulous companies miles away who you cannot know personally or anyone that works there. I recently applied for life insurance with a local broker only to find that the medical practitioner never could keep an appointment. I was told by a very well known Internet service that I would never get life insurance. Then I went to a blue chip and after being interrogated endlessly prying into private details about my history ,they approved me. Going to the calculator, it made much more sense to invest in a Conservative, dividend paying mutual fund. Two 12 year old girls died not to long ago based on underwriting
denials. Property owners are being roughed up in the inner cities due to perceived hazards. I urge you, particularly if you have been a victim to write your representative and ask that they investigate the passage of a bill that would save American citizens the pain and suffering of being denied an important protection ability in their lives and for their families. The Federal government will provide much more conformity and fairness to insurance company underwriting.
